Best Spooky Cities to Visit During Halloween

Chase witches and vampires by crossing into the underbelly of darkness this Halloween season. Why not travel to some of the best cities known for their haunting and historic sights!  Travel to Transylvania where you can find your own vampire or visit Salem where you can sample a witch’s brew. Perhaps a visit to New Orleans is what you had in mind, where you can explore voodoo legends.  Here are two of my favorite cities to visit during Halloween and spooky fun things to do while on your visit.

Visit Transylvania from October 29th  and you can go on the Halloween Dracula Tour. This is a very cool and special way to visit the birth place of the original vampire, Vlad, the Impaler.  On your first day of the tour you will be greeted by your tour guide at the airport and taken to your hotel to get prepared.  On day 1 you’ll head out to Snagov Monastery where legend says Vlad is buried.

On day two of the tour you’ll be driven up to Targoviste, the former capital of Walachia County and the location of the ruins of Vlad Tepes old court. You’ll also stop by Sinaia a gorgeous mountain resort in Romania and do other sightseeing.

On day three the fun begins, you head to Castle Dracula. You are given rules of survival and protection so that you survive your Dracula encounter and live to tell about it.  You’ll take a drive to the birth place of Prince Vlad Dracula, Sighisoara, where there will be a Halloween party and costume contest.

On the final couple of days you are visiting other towns and heading back to Bucharest.  The cost for this fun filled tour is €1289 or $1,763, which includes your accommodations, transfers, bus rides, tours, the Halloween party, some of your dinners and lunches for 5 days.

If crossing the ocean and staying at Castle Dracula isn’t quite in your budget this year, don’t worry, you can stay in the states and visit some hauntingly great places.  Visit Salem which is the birth place of the Salem witches. If you want to party like the undead, you won’t want to miss the Voo Doo Ball on the 26th or Devils Night on the 31st. Rockafellas of Salem has a whole host of events for October!

There are plenty of haunting tours to keep you busy during your visit as well.  There is the Haunted Harbor Cruise which is a 1.5 hour cruise that is only $25 for adults.  Tales & Tombstone Trolley tour is only $20 for adults and gives you a 1 hour tour exploring Salem shadows and occults.  For more great places to visit in Salem, you can download a free Salem Haunting Happenings at HauntedHappenings.org
