My Favorite Cancun Restaurant: Tempo by Martín Berasategui

If you’re scoping out Cancun restaurants and trying to decide on where to dine, look no further than Tempo.

Tempo is THE best Cancun restaurant and after dining there during my vacation  a couple weeks ago, I understood what all the hype was about.

As I was researching places to dine at (other than the typical resort food), I came across reviews for Tempo and was intrigued. A huge plus is that the restaurant is adults only. This ensures a pleasant dining experience without having to deal with yougins running around or crying. And the biggest factor:

The tasting menu offers 10 unique courses for around $100.
WITH WINE.

Seriously. I don’t know anywhere in the US where you can get a full tasting menu, with wine, for 100 bucks. I’ve mentioned that I don’t consider myself to be a foodie. I have some fabulous foodie friends who are totally rubbing off on me, but in general I’m not all that high maintenance when it comes to food. So this was my first experience with a formal tasting menu.

The restaurant is located inside the Paradisus Cancun hotel on the lower level. It’s an odd location for a restaurant of this class, but don’t let the locale fool you.

Here’s a visual walk-thru of the beautifully presented dishes I had while at Tempo. I forgot to take a pic of the Fennel Pearls with mussel foam but it was awesome. Tempo offers an a la carte menu as well as the tasting menu. Check here for the Tempo menus.

Each dish was amazing. The flavors and textures that were present in each was a journey for my taste buds and items that I would never have thought to pair, complemented each other perfectly.

I highly recommend visiting Tempo when you are in Cancun for a phenomenal dining experience!
